Unique Features of Thymes’ Products
Thymes’ products fall into two main categories: Bath & Body and Home Fragrances. Within these categories, all of their products are further divided into one of six fragrance families.
- Citrus – bright effervescence
- Fresh – clean revitalization
- Floral – romantic bouquets
- Oriental – exotic opulence
- Gourmand – indulgent delicacies
- Woody – rustic warmth
Bath and body products are created with the least amount of chemicals as possible. They are always plant-focused and botanically infused.
Their home fragrances are formulated to greet both you and your visitors as you walk into a scent-filled experience. They develop multiple collections within each fragrance family. The Frasier Fir Collection is part of the fresh fragrance family.
Thymes combines natural and synthetic oils with 100% paraffin wax to create their candles. They assure customers that they only use safe ingredients, for instance, their non-metal candle wicks are lead-free.
The Frasier Fir Fragrance
The Frasier Fir Collection is one of Thymes’ six holiday collections. Refreshing essential oil from Siberian fir trees is combined with sweet cedarwood and the warmth of mossy sandalwood to round out this fragrance.
As a holiday favorite, there are many variations of this collection. The Frasier Fir subcollections highlighted in this article are:
- The Gilded Collection
- Wintery white modern bark texture with 24-karat gold trim is fresh and elegant.
- The Grand Noble Collection
- Emerald and sage green glass exteriors add a sleek and sophisticated feel to any room.
- The Heritage Collection
- Illustrations of fir tree branches or trees cover these candle holders and are a favorite for holiday decor.
- The Statement Collection
- When lit, flames peek through these luxurious metallic candle holders.
Thymes Frasier Fir Candles Reviewed
Thymes offers the fresh and dewy Frasier Fir scent in various sizes within the design subcollections listed above. Below is a review of at least one candle from each of those collections.
Part of the statement collection, this is a 8.5-inch (21.59cm) tall pillar candle housed within a frosted glass candle holder. Metallic fir needle illustrations cover the candle holder, making a luxurious statement in any room. This candle is topped with an accent lid made of real wood.
The Thymes Frasier Fir Luminary candle is a bit pricey but with a total of 180 hours of burning time, you will get your money’s worth if you chose to buy this candle.
Filled with 100% paraffin wax, it weighs 30oz and is both paraben and petroleum-free. The luminary candle is also available in 20oz, 8.5oz, 5oz, and 2oz.
This design is for those who like to add a little glitz and glamour to their home decor. And as the candle burns, the frasier fir branches dance around the wall of the room. Because the wick is not made of metal, it burns clean, and the forestry fragrance smells fresh every time you light this candle.
The Heritage Collection is a Christmas season staple and the reason that Thymes Frasier Fir candles are known as “the scent of the season.” I could not help but highlight this attractive green metal tin with etched fir branches. It can brighten any corner of your home with holiday cheer with its shiny exterior.
Also created with a non-metal wick, this candle cleanly burns for up to 28 hours. This four ounce tin is 10 inches (25.4cm) tall and 4 inches (10.16cm) wide.
A bit more rustic than the luminary candle, this one will sit well in a cabin or a home decorated in farmhouse style or something similar. This tin would also make a good Christmas present.
If you prefer glass to metal, the Heritage Collection also includes small pillar candles in a glass jar with the same needled design but this time, overlaid in green. These are most commonly available in 2.5oz, a 3.75oz set of two, and in 6.5oz.
Available in this sage green glass jar, or in an emerald green glass jar, the Grand Noble collection is superbly sophisticated in a minimalist manner. These rounded square shaped jars hold nine ounces of candle wax for a burn time of up to 52 hours.
The sage colored jar is also available in five ounces and burns for 32 hours.
Thymes Frasier Fir candle wax is usually white, but in the Grand Noble collection, wax and exterior jar colors are the same. Each of the 9 oz (255 g) jars are 7.75 inches (19.69cm) tall and 3.75 inches (9.53 cm) wide.
This polished design with its smooth, elegant, and refined curves would complement both traditional and modern home decor for the holiday season. Think tufted velvet ottomans and matte gold ornaments accented with foliage garland.
Modern refinement at its best, the Thymes Frasier Fir Gilded Collection boasts white ceramic tree bark texture topped with 24-karat gold rim. It is both fresh and rustic at the same time.
This version is 20 oz (567 g) and wider (6 in/15.24cm) than it is tall (3.7in/9.4cm), so it’s designed with three metal-free wicks for even burning. Approximate burn time is 65 hours.
As with the other collections, there are many different size options in the Gilded Collection as well. An 11oz (312g) version burns for 55 hours and the petite 6 oz (170g) version burns for about 45 hours.
Lastly, if you like this design but prefer to burn tea candles, there is a gilded ceramic tea light set that holds three tea candles, which are included. This home decor accent would work well on a fireplace mantle or as a centerpiece on a long table. Burn time is about 12 hours for each little tea light, so it might be a good idea to buy replacement tea lights in the beginning if you like this decor style.
Due to the color and texture of these candles, they can accompany modern or rustic decoration within your home.
For those who will be traveling this holiday season, you can still take the scent of Christmas with you inside of a 2.5 ounce (121 g) festive gold tin. It is the least expensive option here but it still burns for a decent amount of time, 20 hours.
It is 3.5 inches (8.89cm) tall and 3 inches (7.62cm) wide – small enough to fit in a compact travel case!
It was really difficult to find any negative customer feedback for this product. Most customers love it so much and buy this fragrance every year in preparation for the holiday season. I just wanted to mention that so that you wouldn’t think that I was being biased!
What Customers Like about Frasier Fir Candles
- You don’t even have to light these candles in order for them to fill your home with fragrance.
- They smell fresh and natural, not like the synthetic fir tree fragrances out there.
- Lighting these candles for the holidays has become a family tradition.
“No other scent compares.”
- This fragrance creates a great holiday vibe.
- Thymes candles burn clean without a smoky burnt smell in your home.
- These candles have been a solid solution for customers who have to buy artificial Christmas trees due to a family member being allergic to pine. Thymes Frasier Fir candles fill their home with natural frasier fir aroma without triggering an allergic reaction.
“Very expensive but worth the splurge during the holidays.”
- Many customers prefer to continue to use the frasier fir scent even beyond the holiday season.
What Customers Dislike about Frasier Fir Candles
Some customers express dissatisfaction with the fairly small candle sizes in comparison to their prices. This is understandable when you pay $50 for a candle that’s close to eight inches tall. But burn time and fragrance quality are also a consideration.
Another person was dissatisfied with the way the wax burns in the travel tin. Because it is so small, the wick burns the wax down really low in the center but the wax along the edges just sticks there and doesn’t get warm.
To remedy this, another customer suggests placing the tin in a warm spot of the home, like in the kitchen. When the tin is near the stove (but NOT on a burner or near any open flame) the warmth causes the wax to soften and sometimes even melt. Either way, this person was able to smell the fragrance in the same way as they did when they could light the candle.
Also, once the wax softens and melts in warm surroundings, that usually evens out the wax, making it possible to light the wick again. But some people prefer not to go through the trouble of going through all of that.
A few people also felt that the burn times varied and did not always last as long as they would have liked.
If you want your home to smell like a fresh forest during Christmas time (or any other time), then any Frasier Fir candle will check that box for you.
Home decorating is such a personal process, and I think that is why Thymes offers this fragrance in so many different sub-collections. At least one design is likely to fit with your personality and the look within your home. Thymes’ Frasier Fir Collection truly offers something for everyone in terms of style and size variation and the fragrance is consistent across the whole collection.
The candle you would choose would also depend on its placement within your home. Petite candles can be used in small spaces like a guest bathroom. While wider and longer candle holders can be placed on wide shelves or long banquet tables. Average-sized ones are a good fit for bedrooms and entryways.
With that said, I do have a few more suggestions about how you might go about choosing a Frasier Fir candle.
If you are on a budget, start with the travel tin. It is inexpensive enough for you not to feel too bad if you purchase it and dislike the smell. And due to its size, you can place the same tin in various rooms within your home to determine where the fragrance flows best.
The most commonly purchased candle is the Frasier Fir Heritage Collection in the glass jar. This one solidifies the Christmas spirit with its needle illustrations on the outside in a lush green hue.
If you are looking to really amp up lush decor this holiday season, I would suggest the Statement Collection pillar candle. It is glitzy and wintery bright, bringing a bit of frost within the home (without the cold temperatures).
Whichever one you choose, remember to always be safe when burning candles.
