The Thymes Pine Needle Fraser Fir votive candle is the perfect size for decorating a small table or narrow fireplace. This adorable 2-ounce votive features snow-white wax inside a clear glass container with a green fir pattern overlaid on top. The scent is nice, but not too overpowering and smells of fir needles, sandalwood, and cedarwood.
I really liked the crisp, earthy notes of these scents and when the smell hit my nose I truly felt like I was standing in a Christmas tree grove. These candles are made with paraffin wax and both essential and synthetic oils, which give it a nice even burn and aroma release. For the size, I do think this candle is a bit expensive, but if you love the look of the glass jar it might be worth it.

The La Jolie Muse Sandalwood and Fir candle come in a gorgeous, festive tin container that resembles fancy wrapping paper. The green and gold work perfectly together to create the appearance of a little gift-wrapped candle. This candle is 6.5 ounces and is made of 100% natural soy wax.
My favorite part of this candle, aside from its outward design, is its soothing scent. It smells like a Christmas tree but also features hints of eucalyptus, lemon, and comforting rosemary. I burned this candle for about 35 hours in total and enjoyed every second of it. It brightened up my space and gave me a calm, serene Christmas-morning feeling.

The candle is sizable – 26 ounces of balsam-green paraffin wax in a glass container – and burns for as long as they say. I lit this candle throughout the Christmas season and it lasted me through the holiday and into the new year.
The Village Candle features a double wick that allows for an even burn and scent disbursement using paraffin wax as fuel. The Lorenzen Candle Company Christmas Tree candle is a lovely, cozy candle that is handmade with a blend of 100% soy wax and natural essential oils. The snowy white wax is scented with fir and cedar, with just a hint of menthol in the eucalyptus. The candle comes in a 3-ounce glass jar with a gold lid.
I thought this candle was a little pricy, but once I lit the wick and admired the way the handmade label looked near my Christmas cookie display, my appreciation for the down-to-earth, homemade look grew. I really liked this candle’s scent, it was just strong enough from the essential oils, but not overpowering like some synthetic fragrances.

The NEST Fragrances holiday-scented classic candle is by far the most expensive of the bunch. It features a cosmetic-grade wax, most likely soy and paraffin, in a propriety blend that is special to the company. The white wax is held in an 8-ounce glass container with an elegant gold diamond pattern on the outside.
This candle seemed fancy, so I placed it in my guest bathroom where the white and gold would match the white and gold fixtures. The result was a lovely winter Wonderland-themed space that my Christmas party guests told me smelled delightful. The NEST candle scent is a combination of mandarin orange, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, amber, and pine – making it, in my opinion, the most uniquely scented Christmas tree candle of the group.
I loved the combination of Christmas fir and cinnamon, and the wax burned clean until about ⅓ of the candle remained.

The hand-poured Just Makes Scents Christmas Tree candle comes in a cute little hexagonal jelly jar and is crafted in small batches by the cleverly named manufacturer. The mostly soy wax candle features a paper and cotton wick inside green wax. The jar only holds 8-ounces of candle, but the scent that this candle delivers is pretty spot on in my opinion.
I took a deep breath when I took the gold lid off the jar and immediately felt transported to Christmas morning under the tree. My only frustration with this candle is that the green is a bit “off”; it is not a true Christmas tree green, which caused it to look out of place with my decorations. Also, the wick kept drowning in the wax, so I had to pour out the excess wax and relight often.

The Christmas candle by Sweet Water Decor Store gets my vote as the best overall Christmas tree scented candle. This luminary features snow-white wax and an unobtrusive label that worked perfectly with my modern decor sensibilities. The soy wax blend rests in an 8-ounce glass container with a round, open-top that allows the fragrance to waft into the air. When I lit this lovely candle, I smelled the most intoxicating mixture of fresh-cut Christmas tree, apple cider with cinnamon, as well as orange, cloves, and a hint of sugar cookies.
It was everything I love about Chrimsat rolled into one hand-poured candle. I got about 40 hours of burn time from this candle and at its very reasonable price point, I can tell that I’ll be trying out several other scents from this candle maker.

The Woodwick Mini Fraser Fir candle is a classic Woodwick option. It’s the only candle on this list that features a wood wick, which is something that some love and others struggle with. I personally love the cozy, crackle that the wood wick produces, even if it doesn’t burn like a cotton wick.
I followed the instructions and burned it for a few hours the first time and it burned much more evenly than I had experienced from wood wicks in the past. The wax is a nice Christmas tree green and the glass looks like it’s frosted which gives it a chilly look. The scent of this 3-ounce candle is truly reminiscent of an evergreen forest, and the price isn’t too bad for such an ambiance-setting option.

In my opinion, the Sweet Water Decor Store Christmas Scented Candle edges out above the rest for the best overall Christmas tree scented candle. It is a great size, burns clean and long, looks like it belongs in a winter wonderland postcard, and gives off a complex smell that manages to hit all the cozy scents that everyone loves about the holiday season.
I also love the Yankee Candle Balsam and Cedar as a reliable go-to. It is a solid, balsam scented candle from a brand that never really lets you down. My last runner-up is the Lorenzen Candle Company Christmas Tree. I admire the handcrafted aspect of this candle and the way it added to the Chrismas-cookies-in-the-ki-kitchen feeling.
