There is a lot to like about the ASAKUKI Essential Oil Diffuser, and the few cons to this diffuser are pretty trivial.
The diffuser is primarily plastic with a wood grain outer coating and base. At just over 1.5 pounds, this diffuser is extremely easy to move around and can sit on nearly any surface or table without an issue. The inside of this diffuser is a translucent plastic that doesn’t have many ridges and is extremely easy to clean and wipe down.
The LED lights are plenty bright, and there are seven different colors with a bright and dim option for each color. To switch between light colors, you must cycle through them all, which can be a little annoying at times.
While the remote control for this diffuser is very light and feels a bit cheap, it’s very responsive, intuitive, and has all the control capabilities you could want.
Pros
- Beautiful and functional design
- Very easy to clean and maintain
- The diffuser is lightweight but made from good quality materials
- It has a nearly 5-foot power cord, so you don’t have to stay right next to an outlet
- The remote control is very responsive
Cons
- When you take off the top of the diffuser after use, water gets everywhere

Then, we have the ASAKUKI 500ml essential oil diffuser. This is a rather inexpensive yet functional ultrasonic diffuser, and it’s a good option for not too heavy use.
The ASAKUKI diffuser has functions galore for more convenient and safer essential oil diffusion. You are getting 3 timer settings (1, 3, and 6 hours), 2 mist intensity modes, and 7 LED mood lights.
The water tank is pretty large here as well – 500 ml is enough for up to 16 hours of essential oil diffusion at low mist and 10 hours at high mist.
We like the design of this ultrasonic diffuser too – it’s simple enough to fit most interior styles, and it looks very elegant in its modesty.
With all that said, this is a rather flimsy unit with durability issues. The Amazon user rating of this diffuser is 4.6 stars based on nearly 10k reviews, but a noticeable number of people have still complained about short life, issues with mist diffusion, or whatnot. Given the price, we aren’t that surprised.
Pros:
- Not too expensive.
- Low-water safety shutoff.
- Large 500ml reservoir.
- Timer settings & 7 mood lights.
Cons:
- Durability issues.

This is a higher-capacity alternative to the 500ml ASAKUKI ultrasonic diffuser. It also appears to be more heavy-duty than the small diffuser, so it might be a better long-term buy.
When it comes to the functionality, the 700ml ASAKUKI ultrasonic diffuser is just like the small unit. You are again getting a few timer settings, a pair of mist intensities, and 7 lights. It has a safety shutoff too. So at the basics, the two diffusers are no different.
However, with its 700ml water tank, this ultrasonic diffuser runs for up to 15-20 hours, depending on the selected mist intensity. Note that the 700ml diffuser also runs louder than the small one, but it’s fine at the low setting.
We also like the design of the 700ml ASAKUKI unit – with its straight lines and geometric shape, it looks sleeker than the 500ml diffuser. With that, it probably will be a great choice for modern interiors.
Pros:
- Low-water safety shutoff.
- Huge 700ml reservoir for up to 20 hours of scented mist.
- Timer settings & 7 mood lights.
- Nice and sleek.
Cons:
- A little noisy.

- What’s Included – 1 diffuser, 10ml lavender essential oil, 10ml eucalyptus essential oil, 10ml tea tree essential oil, 10ml orange essential oil,...
The Pure Daily Care aromatherapy diffuser & oil set includes everything you need to get started out of the box.
You are getting not only an ultrasonic diffuser but also 10 essential plant oils, including lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, and others. These oils are on the weaker side, but they seem to be of good quality and are a good place for getting started.
The ultrasonic diffuser is sized at 300 ml and thus should run for probably up to 10-12 hours. Like ASAKUKI ultrasonic diffusers, you are getting timer settings (1, 3, and 6 hours), a low-water safety shutoff, and mist intensity settings.
With the mist intensity, things are a bit weird here – the 1H/ON modes seem to run on strong mist, while 3H/6H are on weak. So unlike the ASAKUKI diffusers, you can’t directly adjust the mist level.
This diffuser again has 7 ambient lights, but each actually has 2 intensities. With that said, the light element here is just a thin strip, so you won’t be getting as much light as from ASAKUKI diffusers. The lights still make this thing look cool though.
Pros:
- Timer settings & low-water shutoff.
- 7 lights, each with 2 intensities.
- Includes 10 essential plant oils.
Cons:
- The included oils are pretty decent but have a weak scent.

If you want something unique and high-quality, then the PureGlow ultrasonic diffuser from Pure Enrichment is a wonderful choice.
The PureGlow diffuser is very different from many other diffusers on the market because it has an integrated Himalayan salt lamp instead of 7 LED lights. For us, this is great because virtually every ultrasonic diffuser has the same light combinations, and they do get boring quickly. PureGlow at least offers something new.
The salt lamp is lighted by 3 10W halogen bulbs (included) and has 5 brightness settings. The salt itself is advertised to be mined in Pakistan and handcrafted for uniqueness and beauty.
As for the diffuser side of things, PureGlow is nice but a bit lacking compared to our previous picks. It has no timer settings or mist intensity adjustments – only on or off. The water tank is also sized at 160ml, though it’s claimed to deliver mist for up to 16 hours.
What PureGlow does boasts instead, however, is quality. Pure Enrichment offers a 5-year warranty – more than most diffuser manufacturers out there – along with an excellent customer support team. So even if this diffuser goes out of order, you should be able to get it back on track or have it replaced with no issues.
Pros:
- Includes a Himalayan salt lamp with 5 brightness levels.
- Very pretty.
- 5-year warranty.
Cons:
- Pricey
What’s An Ultrasonic Diffuser And How Does It Work?
Ultrasonic diffusers comprise of two key components – a vibration-producing plate and a water tank. You add the essential oil to the water tank and turn the diffuser on – the plate starts producing ultrasonic vibrations that agitate the water and force it to evaporate along with the oils. Thus, the essential oils are diffused into the air.
Ultrasonic diffusers are unlike heat, evaporative, or nebulizing diffusers. They do not use any heat or fans to diffuse the oils – just water and ultrasonic vibrations. This allows for the following benefits:
- Compared to heat diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers do not heat the essential oils and thus do not alter their chemical composition in any way.
- Compared to nebulizing diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers are cheaper and less costly to run because they use much less oil. Besides, ultrasonic diffusers deliver a much longer-lasting scent.
- Compared to evaporative diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers are quieter and diffuse the essential oils more evenly.
Since ultrasonic diffusers employ water to aid with the diffusion, they can actually humidify air as well. Of course, an ultrasonic diffuser won’t replace a full-fledged humidifier, but it can perform this purpose quite decently.
On the other hand, ultrasonic diffusers have a number of disadvantages too:
- They require water to operate and thus can be messy.
- In humid areas, ultrasonic diffusers are not an option because they may make the air unbearably humid and even cause condensation on surfaces.
- Since the essential oils are diluted in the water, only a small fraction of the mist is actually essential oil. This makes the scent throw much weaker than in other diffuser types.
- If you want a quick influx of scent, then an ultrasonic diffuser is not ideal. Ultrasonic diffusers are great at evenly diffusing oils during a long period (up to a day), but they produce a weaker scent.
So as you can see, although ultrasonic diffusers have a bunch of interesting advantages over other diffuser types, they aren’t perfect. Most importantly, ultrasonic essential oil diffusers aren’t ideal for humid environments. The other drawbacks may matter to some people too, so be sure to understand what you want and expect from a diffuser.
What To Look For When Shopping For The Best Ultrasonic Diffuser
In this section, let’s quickly cover the key features and specs of ultrasonic diffusers. Once you read through this guide, you will be more informed about ultrasonic diffusers and will hopefully better understand our top picks.
Size and Coverage
First things first, consider size and coverage.
Ultrasonic diffuser size refers to the capacity of the integrated water reservoir. The larger the water tank, the longer the diffuser will be able to run on a single refill, and the potentially larger spaces it will cover.
Typically, manufacturers indicate the runtimes and coverage of their diffusers in the product descriptions, so check them out. We can’t say that the advertised figures are always precise, but they at least give you some ground to base your decisions on.
Timer Settings
Ultrasonic diffusers usually have timer settings that allow you to set how long the diffuser should run before automatically shutting off. The convenience of this feature lies in the fact that you can use your essential oils more efficiently, as well that the diffuser can be safely left to run overnight.
Though most ultrasonic diffusers have timers, you should check what you are getting anyway. 1/3/6 hours is pretty typical for ultrasonic diffusers, but some diffusers go longer, while a handful of models have no timers. Be sure that you know what you are getting to avoid disappointment.
Adjustable Mist Intensity
If you want to be able to adjust the mist intensity, then get a diffuser that has at least two strength settings. Although high mist intensity is preferable, a low setting would allow you to conserve essential oils. The diffuser would run quieter on the ow mode too, which would be helpful for nighttime uses.
Lights
Virtually all ultrasonic diffusers out there have some kind of a light feature. Usually, ultrasonic diffusers have 7 light colors, sometimes with adjustable brightness. With that, an ultrasonic diffuser can not only do aromatherapy but also work as a nightlight!
We don’t think that lights are important in essential oil diffusers, but still, they are nice to have.
Safety Features
Lastly, also pay attention to what kind of safety features the desired diffuser has. Most ultrasonic diffusers have low-water shutoff, and a few may have tip-over protection. Tip-over protection isn’t a must, but low-water shutoff is, so make sure that your diffuser has it.
Final Words
In our opinion, the very best ultrasonic diffuser on our top is the ASAKUKI 700ml Essential Oil Diffuser. This diffuser offers a large water reservoir, respectable runtime, good safety, and a sleek design that we like very much.
An honorable mention goes to the Pure Enrichment PureGlow Lamp & Ultrasonic Diffuser – though this diffuser isn’t the most functional out there, it offers excellent quality and a unique take on the lighting.
The remaining 3 picks are great in their own ways as well (as outlined on our reviews), so they shouldn’t be left out. Well, they are on our top, after all, so you can be sure that they are worth the buck!
