A close relative gifted me a starter pack of Young Living essential oils for my birthday. A bottle of oil I had bought was a disappointment, and she must have heard me complaining. I was skeptical at first but tried it. I wanted to find out are they worth it?

Young Living includes high-quality essential oils, blends, and other oil-infused products. Every drop is pure and sourced from certified farms domestically and across the globe. But Young Living Essential Oils are very expensive because it is an MLM company.

With the company’s need to seal promise, they track the product from the farm to ensure quality standards are maintained.

This review will shed light on Young Living essential oils. I will also look at some of their products to decide whether to buy young living next when you need some essential oils.

All About Young Living

Young Living was founded by D. Gary Young and his wife Mary Young back in 1993. Their first venture was a lavender farm in Idaho. But for Gary, the discovery came much earlier in his travels and interaction with perfumers and aromatherapists.

He realized that the quality of essential oils in the market was poor as there were no standards in the industry. And thus, Young Living was born. Mary’s business instincts combined with Gary’s expertise led the company to be what it is today. Gary developed a system known as Seed to Seal to ensure only the highest quality makes it to your hands. They follow the production from the farm, where the farmers practice only the safest agricultural practices. They use double distillation in all their production units.

Rigorous testing is carried out on all the products before they make it to the market. Each product undergoes ninety tests before it is certified fit for the market. The essential oils are safe for use, and you can even ingest them.

Why is Young Living so Expensive?

Young Living essential oils are pure and last twice as cheaper brands. Because Young Living is an MLM company, which causes its products to be more expensive than other brands which have comparable quality.

Is Young Living Worth It?

If you ask Young Living‘s existing customers, they’ll tell you it’s good value for money and that while their products come in smaller bottles they consume them more slowly.

Young Living’s essential oils are very good but their products are much more expensive than similar products, The slow consumption is because you use less each time, which brings a negative experience.

Negative Reviews

Receiving essential oil bottles while they are half full is very disappointing. The cause is a spillage, but it is a significant loss as the oils are not cheap. Mainly occurs because of poor packaging.

The essential oil burns when applied directly on the skin through the company says you can. Dilute the Young Living essential oil with a carrier oil before using it on the skin.

The logistics department is incompetent as some essential oil does not make it to the intended destination. At the same time, the staff does not track the packages properly hence a lack of inquiry information.

They have poor customer service. When called the company, it takes too long before they respond. Orders have to be followed sometimes for more than a week. It is very demoralizing when customers do not receive the priority they deserve.

The price of the essential oils was too high compared to the prices of other oils in the market. The quality did not match the price.

The business model of Young Living essential oils is a disappointment. Some do not support it and prefer direct sales from a company website other than being recruited into a sales network.

Final Thoughts

The Young living singles essential oils are an excellent choice for a beginner. I would recommend beginning with lavender or lemon. You are most likely to have come across them in other household and beauty products or perfumes. If you do not have a diffuser, you can purchase the Young Living Desert Mist Ultrasonic Essential Oil diffuser.

Once you become more accustomed and are ready to explore deeper, move on to the blends for a richer experience. The peace and calming blend did it for me, and you can begin with it as you experiment to find what suits you. You can also try their roll-on and other beauty products or their brand of household cleaning products.

The basic kit contains 10 sample sachets and bottles of essential oils to get you started. But because of the Young Living business model, you have to be a member to access this kit.  To become a member, you must join under someone.

While it is not compulsory to build a network, you have to purchase $100 worth of products monthly and recruit new members into your network to earn a commission every month.
