What Makes A Good Aromatherapy Gift?

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils extracted from various parts of plants to help enhance a person’s well-being. These oils can be inhaled, such as with diffusers, or they can be applied, for instance, through the use of massage oils. You can also soak in them by using bath salts or teas, and bath bombs.

It’s a practice used to aid in stress relief and relaxation. It can help improve stamina and sleep patterns. So when looking for an aromatherapy gift, you want to think about how it’ll be used.

Here are three points to consider when buying an aromatherapy present for anyone during any time of the year:

  1. Who’s it for? Is this for a student? A new mom? A stressed out executive? Someone concerned with sustainability? The gift you choose might even be different for someone who’s new to aromatherapy versus someone who’s been practicing it for a while. Think about the person and what they might actually need to gain from using aromatherapy.

  2. What might make the most useful gift? Is the gift being used for personal reasons or professional ones? Does this person need to destress or feel more invigorated? Will they use it at home or when they travel?

  3. What kinds of scents do they like? This might be the trickiest part of buying an aromatherapy gift because we all react to scents differently. If you’re unsure and can’t do subtle research then buying a variety pack might be your best bet. But if you can hint around or make observations, then choose the scent you see this person use the most.

Allow these three points to guide you as you search for a good aromatherapy gift.

    Aromatherapy Gifts on Amazon.com

If you are looking for a fairly quick solution, then start with Amazon. You can sort through thousands of aromatherapy listings. A general search for “aromatherapy gifts” yielded 20k results. Choosing all Prime delivery options cut the results in half.

You can further narrow down your results by department, customer reviews, price range and more. For instance, selecting products with a review of four stars or more shaved off an additional 3,000 items. Then limiting the price range to $25-$50 dollars, narrowed suggested items down to 1k. Aromatherapy gifts in the range of $50-$100 dollars left me with only 259 listings to choose from, and it took me less than ten minutes to reach so few items.

Some people are intimidated by all of the options available on Amazon but if you use their search tools, it’s not so hard to find what you’re looking for. Not to mention you’ll receive the gift in record time, especially if you have Prime membership. This is especially handy if it’s a last-minute gift.

With that in mind, here are some aromatherapy gifts I found in my search:

Scented Candles Gift Set for Women

A set of eight soy candles in portable 2.5 oz tins with scents like green tea, lavender, fig, coco cake, and pine, your gift recipient is sure to enjoy at least half of them. The tins are decorative and feminine and only cotton wicks were used, so they will burn cleanly for up to 20 hours. It’s a nice variety of scents that can be placed in various rooms and even taken along when traveling.

    Scented Candles Boxed Gift Set

This set of two soy wax candles are already boxed and ready to be wrapped or placed inside a gift bag. Each candle is 3.5oz and the wicks are made of lead-free plant fibers. Calming lavender or vanilla will burn for up to 25 hours.

Asutra Mist Your Mood Sampler Set

This set of three misters is perfect for someone new to aromatherapy because unlike a more expensive diffuser or candle, this gift is pretty non-committal.

Included scents are: lavender & chamomile, citrus & eucalyptus, and peppermint & rosemary. Each bottle is 1 fl oz (30mL) and ready to mist in a room, on linens, or even on the body.

Fabulous Frannie Aromatherapy Essential Oil Starter Set

Another one that’s already boxed up for you. This set has gotten rave reviews as a great way to build up an essential oil collection. There are fourteen 10 mL bottles filled with 100% pure essential oils, like lime, tea tree, and rosemary. And with a set like this, your person can make their own blends.

    ArOmis Aromatherapy Diffuser

With about nine glass shapes and wood bases to choose from, you can find a diffuser that works well for your gift recipient. I’ve written in detail about ArOmis diffusers, but in short, they distribute fragrance extremely well without using heat or water.

    BodyRestore Aromatherapy Shower Tablets

Sometimes the shower is the only place for a person to relax and this set of 30 shower tablets would make a considerate gift for that person. There are three each of aromatherapy scents like grapefruit, eucalyptus & mint, and rose, for a total of ten scents. It can be used morning or night to help reduce stress.

    Asakuki Premium Essential Oils Set

Beautifully illustrated, this boxed set is ready for gift-giving. This set of twelve oils are 100% pure and sustainably made. Each bottle is 5 mL (0.17 fl oz) and offers a nice introduction to the brand with a variety of common essential oil scents, like sweet orange, bergamot, lavender, and peppermint. Scents in this set were chosen to help soothe, relax, or uplift.

    Handmade Aromatherapy Gifts on Etsy

For a more specialized shopping experience, you might want to consider a platform like Etsy. Most products on Etsy are either handmade or vintage. Over the years Etsy has permitted pre-manufactured products to be sold on their website, but honestly, I would steer away from those because you can buy those items almost anywhere.

Shopping for handmade and vintage products on Etsy is a more in-depth experience. You are making purchases from people who create, cultivate, or curate shop items by hand, making it a more personalized experience.

And usually, there’s an option for them to gift wrap the order and/or add in a special note if you’re having the preset mailed directly to your recipient.

One thing to keep in mind is that since there is more care and time taken to create products found on Etsy, you will have to plan ahead and place the order early enough to reach you or your gift recipient in time.

Searching for the right gift is fairly easy on Etsy as well. There are search parameters similar to Amazon. After typing in your search term, you can sort by estimated arrival time, price, category, and more filters.

Listed below are Etsy shops that create thoughtful aromatherapy gifts.

    CONCREATEDecor

Based out of New York, shop owner, Margarita, creates aesthetically pleasing gift boxes. This aromatherapy relaxing box caught my eye. It includes a candle, bath bomb, matches, lip balm, and a scented sachet.

    BusyBee Handcraft

Based in Florida, I found these apothecary aromatics to be intriguing. You’ll receive eight discs in your choice of scents like peppermint, rose, lavender & vanilla, or one of nine others.

Zemala Natural makes these exceptionally beautiful scented sachets and more natural products like soaps, serums, moisturizers, and scrubs. The sachets are made using soy wax, essential oils, and dried plants and fruit and are shipped from California.

I could go on and on but there are so many cool shops on Etsy, so I must stop here! It’s definitely worth a look if you want to give a handmade aromatherapy gift.

    Aromatherapy Gifts in Physical Stores

Although most companies have had a growing online presence since the start of the pandemic, brick-and-mortar stores are opening up and extending their hours as well. The advantage to shopping in a physical store is that you can pick up items, smell scents, match colors, and so forth.

Buying an item in the store leads to fewer surprises. Here is a list of the types of stores you might want to consider when searching for aromatherapy gifts.
