When I first saw an ArOmis nebulizing diffuser, I thought that it looked and sounded too complicated. I wondered if they would be any good, or if I would just be disappointed by a fancy diffuser.

But I was happy to learn that ArOmis is an engaging, family-operated company that aims to create the most functional, high-quality aromatherapy diffusers on the market. Made of glass and high-quality wood, their diffusers are well-crafted and highly effective at distributing fragrance throughout the home.

Who Is the Company, ArOmis?

In 2011, Jonathan Raabe founded this family-owned company in Boulder, Colorado. Based on Bernoulli’s Principle of fluid dynamics, ArOmis creates diffusers that function without heat or water. This method of diffusing helps maintain the purity and potency of essential oils, meaning that you experience their full benefits.

No use of heat or water also means you will experience a much stronger fragrance with vapors than you would with heated or diluted oils; this is due to the unique vacuum action of the diffusers. ArOmis was the first company to design nebulizing diffusers this way.

Well-crafted using hand-blown glass and hand-carved natural wood, each nebulizing diffuser is carefully constructed to function optimally. More importantly because ArOmis doesn’t use any artificial materials to make their diffusers, you know that there aren’t any impurities seeping into your oils as they spread throughout your home.

ArOmis diffusers are crafted to last for a long time. If you run into any problems, they have superior customer service agents who can help you troubleshoot or find some other solution, like repairs or replacements. They pride themselves with quick but kind customer service and will usually have new parts delivered to you within a day, if necessary.

In addition to these innovative diffusers, ArOmis sells organic essential oils in the form of single oils and natural oil blends. They also sell carrier oils and nebulizer parts to help you maintain your diffuser.

ArOmis Diffuser Basics

All ArOmis diffusers come with a wooden base, glass nebulizer bottle and cap, along with a cleaning tool, power supply cord, and instructions on how to use the diffuser.

Timer options on each unit vary. They create units with one, four, and eight hour intermittent cycles, and then a 12-hour continuous cycle. Your unit will be marked, and it comes with instructions to help you determine which timer options are available to you.

But if you don’t notice a dot on your nebulizer knob, then you have the four hour timer. The intermittent times will cycle on and off every ten minutes until the cycle is over. Unfortunately, the device can’t sense when the machine is out of oil. So although it will shut off once the timer stops, you may or may not continue to smell fragrance up to that point.

Your best bet is to add enough oil in the beginning of the cycle. These diffusers can only be used with 100% natural essential oils. Artificial fragrances, perfumes or essential oils that’ve been diluted with carrier oils, will cause the nebulizer not to work properly. If you use anything but pure essential oils you’ll clog your nebulizer tubes.

Even high quality essential oils can leave behind small particles. And sometimes you can unknowingly purchase degraded oils from companies that claim that their oils are all natural. Either way, the included cleaning tool helps keep the vapors flowing.

ArOmis also formulates their own essential oils, so if you are concerned about which ones to use with these nebulizers, here’s an essential oil set to start out with.

Using Your ArOmis Diffuser

The ArOmis diffusers look a little complicated, but they are actually really easy to use. After pulling all of the parts out of the box,

  1. Place the wooden base on a flat surface and plug it in

  2. Wiggle the glass bottle down into the rubber grommet in the center of the base

  3. Twist the silver knob to power up the wooden base

  4. Drop in some essential oils to your preference

  5. Place the cap on the glass bottle once you begin to see vapors rise

You can add up to forty drops of essential oil at a time, but you might want to start with 10 to 20 drops until you are more familiar with the diffuser and the number of drops it’ll take to fill your room.

It’s possible to fill any diffuser with oil that you might not like as much as you thought you would. In these situations, there are a few easy adjustments you can make to the ArOmis diffuser.
